POOPED OUT AFTER THE FESTIVITIES

This picture is priceless...........our very own Toby with his dad after they finished their x-mas dinner........

HEARTFELT STORY.......PLEASE READ

I found your website tonight while looking for Yorkie Breeders in Maine. I live in Buxton and I had no idea that there was a breeder so close to me. I wish I had known that you were so close a few years ago! I have a 2.5 year old Yorkie named Delilah Belle who I adore! I somehow failed to find a breeder in Maine at the time that I was looking for a Yorkie so I bought her at a local pet store in Windham. I never quite understood why people would tell me never to buy a puppy from a pet store but I very quickly found out why after I brought Delilah home. She was a very sick little puppy and after several tests we found out that she had a liver shunt and would die if she did not have surgery. Needless to say, we decided to have the surgery and she has been a healthy girl ever since.

It is so important that people are aware of some of the issues with purchasing a small breed dog especially when you do not know exactly where they are coming from. I would like to note that I did months of research on Yorkies before purchasing; which is why I noticed that there was a problem so quickly. I actually diagnosed her before the vet did. The symptoms are similar to hypoglycemia until you realize that everything that you are doing to treat the hypoglycemia just doesn’t work.

I think it is also important to mention that the store owner gave me a complete refund for Delilah; which I think is extremely uncommon and was certainly not required of him by Maine State law. The cost of the testing and the surgery was more than $3,000.00 when all was said and done. This is what I think people should truly understand and take into serious consideration before purchasing any dog let alone a small breed dog where these issues tend to be common in puppies that come from puppy mills or other irresponsible breeders! If you look at any Yorkie Rescue site, you will see that many of the dogs that were given up by their owners had liver shunts. Not only is it an expensive issue to remedy; it is a lot of work that involves a strict schedule of medications and feedings to keep your puppy as healthy as possible before and after the surgery.

That being said; if someone was to find themselves in this situation after purchasing a Yorkie Pup and they love the breed as much as I do, they won’t give any of this a second thought when deciding what to do!
We at TMY are looking forward to meeting Delilah's mom at some point in the future. Her story is just another in the saga of puppy mills. If everyone out there would just STOP buying puppies from pet stores, then there would be no demand for puppy mill pups and then it would put them out of business. My heart goes out to all of you who have had your heart broken or have been taken by the rise in mass produced dogs of any breed. As a lover of yorkshire terriers and a person who cares, we do try to do the right thing here at TMY, improving our program and producing healthy puppies.

SUCCESSFUL BREEDINGS

Well we finally are going to have puppies again if everything goes well. We have had a successful breeding with Jazzy and with Delia. Only time will tell now if we have babies. If so they will be due around the 20th of February. Of course we will keep you posted and up to date as things and confirmation transpires. Wish us luck as the Irish would say.........

ICE STORM

Well we got through the ice storm of 2008. We were without power from Thursday night to Sunday early evening. Like most folks, we don't own a generator. Honestly we have only lost our power a few times in the 9 years we have lived here. We kept warm at least. We have a ventless propane heater which we set up in the big room for the pups, and another one in the living room that heated the upstairs as well. Thank goodness for the pool, as we dipped water for flushing. Otherwise, we all went to bed early.......lol. The dogs really didnt understand why we hand candles burning and why it was so dark so early, but we made out fine. Hope all of you are ok and that everyone has that commodity of electricity back. Boy, it is easy to take things for granted sometimes.

WHAT'S HAPPENING AT TMY

We are really busy as usual but this time not due to the dogs...LOL. I got a new job in September and I am slamming with work so I have been putting in long hours and just not finding the time to write too much right now. Please forgive me.
Chance is still available. He is a really nice boy and will make a great boy for someone. I also have decided to sell Sadie (Mercedes). She will probably weigh about 5.5 lbs full grown. Right now she has a floppy ear.....teething really bad but I think I can get it up . She is a little love bug. She is out of Delia and Sutton. Both will be sold spay/neuter only.
Jazzy is finally in season and we will be breeding her. Hope for success for us. Abbie and Lib are on sabatical until next summer. Everyone else is doing well. We will be breeding Lucy and Sierra for the first time this coming spring. I am anxious to see what our bred bys give us. It is exciting times. No shows now until after the first of the year........it is good to have a break.
Like everyone else........I am trying to prepare for the holidays. Well keep coming back to see me thru the blog and take care. Holly

CHANCE IS FOR SALE

This little boy is for sale. He was born to Ruby and Grady on July 22nd. I have been watching him for a potential show but little Chance might be a bit light and he has too much leg. He will make someone a great little pet. He has a great personality and is just a sweetheart.

MEADOW FITCHBURG SHOW

Meadow and I had a great time at the Fitchburg show last weekend. In her class she competed against 2 other little girls and she won a first in her class. We then competed in best puppy against an older girl and we got 2nd. Meadow is very comfortable in the show ring and loves to strut her stuff. So cute. I wish I had pictures but I cant do everything!!! LOL

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE WHO VISITS THE TMY WEBSITE. DONT EAT TOO MUCH TURKEY..........!!!!

SECRET MOVING TO DISNEY

Little Secret and her mom are moving to Florida. After the bot fly issue this past summer, Secret told us that the "cold" is nothing she wants to deal with. It's all about her ..........her mom says!!
While in Maine, Secret moved in with her new mom into Keywood Home Park, bringing her attitude as Miss Fiesty.........as the other owners in the park would turn and go the other way when they saw her coming. After weeks of working to socialize her, she made some wonderful friends. Secret will miss her little buddies, Lily, Trudy and Handsome. Secret came for a final visit to TMY before her trip and got a little trim. Mom Holly gave her big hugs and kisses goodbye. TMY will miss seeing Secret and her Mom. Hopefully they can be in Maine for our next yorkie reunion. Have a safe trip..........no chasing Mickey and Minnie down there...........and dont let the fleas get you!!

SUTTON SPORTING HIS NEW HAIR CUT

As much as I love the long beautiful coat that Sutton has, he deserves to be comfortable and happy now that he is a Champion. I gave him his first hair cut on Monday and while I was cutting away he seemed very upset..........but after we finished I took him in the house and made him his most favorite thing.......a tuna melt. As you can see he is wearing it well on his chin........LOL. I think he looks absolutely adorable sporting his new look. He seems comfortable and happy now that it is done. Champion Eng's West Kent Weekend Warrior......."Sutton" ..........we love you!!

OUR DARLING MANI GOING HOME

Here is our darling Taylor's JS Armani Design going home with her new mom. Mani as we call her, weighs 4 lbs and 2 oz and was sold as she was just too small to keep for future breeding.
Lucky little Mani will be going to Florida for the winter and back to Maine in the summers. What a lucky little girl!!

LULU SENDS B-DAY WISHES

Hi Everyone!

Mom took my picture today while I was sunbathing with my squeaky pig. Today I’m ONE YEAR OLD!!! I want to say hello and happy birthday to my Mom, Abbie, and my Dad, Grady, as well as all of my wonderful littermates. Didn’t we have fun when we were babies!!

I knew right away when I got to my forever home that it was going to be just perfect. In fact, I was so sure that I slept right through the first night without crying or anything. My new Mom woke up every hour to check on me, but I just slept like a baby.

As you can see, I am absolutely gorgeous, although I try not to let my natural beauty go to my head. I love to hike in the mountains and terrorize the chipmunks that live nearby. I have an older sister (yes, she’s a Yorkie, too!) and we get along really well. She says she can’t wait for me to grow up and slow down a little. Gee whiz!!

Happy birthday everyone!!

Lulu
(the Duchess of Everything)
(what can I do, my sister is the Queen….)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

TMY WISHES A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LULU, DAIZIE, RILEY, GEORDIE AND MAZIE.

ROSIE HOME FOR THE MONTH

Rosie is home visiting for the month while her folks are on vacation. She is such a sweetheart to have around and just a joy. Her new best friend is Daizie who she is having a great time with.

SHOW RESULTS

We had a fun weekend in Fitchburg. Lucy showed very well and looked gorgeous. She just is much bigger than all the others and really was not looked at by the judge. On Sat. she got a 2nd in her class and on sunday she got a first in her class but nothing in Group. That's ok, we had fun.
I also showed my friends boy on Saturday. I took First in his class and got winner dog, and then he got the cross over in Breed giving him a 3 point major. We were all excited for Vicki and Cabot. MJ Held is now handling him for Vicki as well, but I was so happy to handle him and win. Guess I am not that bad at it after all! FUN FUN FUN!!

HEY.........I AM HOME!!!

Sutton is finally home. Sunday he made his way thru the crowd of yorkies that was here at TMY to greet him. He told everyone that he was happy to be back but wanted everyone to know what a nice person MJ Held is. "I couldn't have gotten my Championship without her", he said. "Now that it is behind me, I plan on living the good life with my harem of fine ladies here at TMY, eating chicken and of course, tuna melts.....and kicking my feet up whenever I can get my belly rubbed........ahhhhhhhhhhhh, IT IS GREAT TO BE HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Then on November 21, 22 and 23 in West Springfielf MA Meadow is making her debut to the show world. Puppies usually dont win but she and I both need the practice....so I am looking forward to having fun with her.

MEADOW IN SUNDAY AKC FUN MATCH IN WATERBORO

Meadow attended her 2nd AKC Match on Sunday competing against some 30 toy dogs. She took a first in her Best Bred By class and then took a Group Three in overall. What that means is that she competed against all the winners in every type of toy dogs and she placed third overall. I really think this is excellent for only her second time out. She is the perfect angel on the table. Loves all the people and dogs and walked nicely in the ring. Of course the stacking on the floor with all the other dogs around her excited her........and she wanted to play but she responded to me and stood when I asked her. I really think she is going to well for me at the shows if she keeps this up!! We let grandma Judy know how she did and she was very pleased as well. Hopefully I will be able to get some pictures to post for you.

AKC FUN MATCH-MEADOW PERFORMS

Our very own bred by little girl, Taylor's Em-Az-Eng Meadow Music performed at her first match yesterday sponsored by the York County Kennel Club. Meadow took a first in her class and 3rd in Toy Group. For her first time out of the TMY ranch she did very very well. She is very inquisitive about everything, loves people and is not afraid. All good qualities for an up and coming show prospect..........and besides that she is adorable.....LOL.
Meadow is the daughter of Sutton, my up and coming Champion and Emma who I co-own with my friend Judy in Dexter......
We are very proud of her............Holly

ONE STEP CLOSER-SUTTON WINS OHIO SHOW

He has an opportunity for another single point today (sunday). Keep your fingers crossed! Soon, soon he will be back home! Holly
