It's been another busy weekend with visitors and puppies playing. Here are a few pics I took today.

SUTTON TAKES BREED IN SHOW IN MICHIGAN

As some of you know, two weeks ago I drove to Buffalo New York and placed Sutton with a professional handler. MJ will be trying to finish Sutton to obtain his championship. Although the final outcome will not be know until mid October, Sutton was shown today at the Pontiac Dog show in Michigan and took Breed in the Yorkshire Terrier class. He wins one AKC point for todays show. Sutton now has 4 singles, half of what he needs for singles .
To become an AKC champion, a dog must have 8 singles and 2 major wins. Majors are when a dog competes against at least 7 others of the same sex or when they take a "cross over" and is awarded Breed when there were at least 7 yorkies of the opposite sex.
I miss him so much but I promised to try to finish him and I am keeping my word. MJ says he is doing great, eating like a little pig and she says he showed well today. Huggs and kisses bugga!! I am proud of you. Momma Holly

BOT FLY ATTACKS YORKIE

Do you remember Secret? She was a little girl that TMY purchased to potentially show and breed, but she stayed very small so we sold her to a loving woman nearby. I happened to be up to the vets and her mom called while I was there. Secret was very sick and needed to be seen. She had gone in for tests just a couple of days prior and she was showing high liver values and vomiting. She also had some places on her skin that looked like eczema..........After liver shunt was ruled out, she was put on antibiotics and sent home.
A couple of days later while a relative was visiting at their home, they noticed some areas on her sides that looked like very dry skin but now they seems to be swelling, and the wierd thing was......they thought they saw something moving under the skin.................
Upon exam she was found to have Bot fly larvae living under her skin in several places!!!!! The larvae type worms were under her skin moving around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She had them surgically removed and was sent home with the antibiotic. Doc said he has seen bot larvae in large animals and occasionally in an outside dog....................in fact I personally can remember worming the horses for bots..........but he said he has never seen this in a house dog.
We think we have seen it all...........but beware of the bot fly..........it can attack your yorkie. Holly

I apologize for not writing much or not posting recent pics.........it's just we are sooooooooo busy here at TMY. The puppies are growing like weeds. I snapped these pics tonight so you could see them. We have had tons of visitors, shows and baths going on here...........besides tons of puppy kisses every day!!

Mystic's Sierra Taylor'd For Success took Reserve in a class of 5 female yorkies in Union last Saturday. We are very proud of her. Sorry I didnt get a photo of her but she looked very sweet! Holly

GIARDIA

I recently have talked to a few folks that found out that their dogs have giardia. Giardia causes stomach upset and severe diarrhea. In small dogs and pups it can be devasting. A regular fecal examined by your vet will not show giardia. You have to request a special test to be done specifically for giardia.
New England has experienced a huge amount of rain this summer and giardia is on the rise. Giardia is usually carried by wild animals such as coons, skunks and beaver. They eliminate in the water or standing water. If your dog drinks from a streams or pond infected they can get it. It also can be transmitted by your pup walking thru standing water that is infected and later they lap and clean their feet and they get it. People can get giardia as well so use extremely good hygiene when handling and cleaning.
Treatment is usually metronidazole (flagyl) 3-5 days of treatment and then they should be retested. Holly

I have been getting allot of emails regarding our puppies and thought that I would post again some things that sets us apart from others. First and foremost:
TMY breeds for quality, temperment and excellent health. We think our puppies are beautiful and we are always striving to make improvements.
We are a show home promoting our lines and our dogs. We breed within the standard and never do we say we have "teacups" since there is no such thing!
Our pups live in our home and are hand raised. They are not kennel dogs nor do they stay in an outside building.
We don't sell to brokers or pet stores and our new moms and dads have to be approved by us. We want our puppies to be spoiled and have the very BEST homes.
You become our family and we stay in touch, wanting updates, pictures and communication.
Our puppies are vet checked and get a health certificate as well as they receive thier shots from our vet. I do not do my own........even though I am a registered nurse and could do it easily, I feel it is more important that our vet see them and that they are cared for properly.
We are here for you 24/7 to answer questions and to help with training tips.
If you want, I will help you groom, do nails or teach you so that you can do your own instead of having the expense of a groomer.
We will puppysit your puppy when you go on vacation that way you never have to kennel your dog at a strange facility.
We sponsor annually a Yorkie Family Reunion. Our 2008 reunion was attended by more than 40 people and 20 some-odd puppies. We have such a great time and it gives me the chance to see all my little babies and to enjoy seeing you again!!! All the puppies get a gift and we have some of the best food and fun ever.
We stand behind our contract and should you not be able to keep your yorkie, the dog must come back to us. We NEVER want one of our babies to end up in a shelter, a rescue or in the hands of someone who will not care for them properly. We dont care what the age of the dog is.......this is a must!!!

Pricing: Yes, we might be a little more than some, but we are allot less than others and we offer you a lifelong commitment. General pricing is $1500 on boys and $1600 on girls with usually a $100 rebate at the time of spay/neuter. Our tiny pups and picks of the litter-show quality are generally price a bit higher $1700-and up. Sometimes we do have a little larger pup that is priced accordingly around $1200 or less.

Every one has been writing and asking to see the babies. The top one is Abbie's 3 girls.........the 2 boys were sleeping but I will try to post one of them tomorrow. They are just adorable at 4 weeks old.
These are Delia's 2 girls. Will post the boys tomorrow. They have not opened their eyes but they are all adorable. They are 2 weeks old now.

MEADOW PIC

My little cracker jack is doing so well. Repeat chest xrays revealed just some scattered infiltrates of pneumonia but she is doing great. She literally is back to her inquisitive self and is looking to get into as much mischief as she can muster.............and I will take it any day and every day just to have her with us.......we love you Meadow.......Holly

MEADOW HOME AND DOING WELL

Meadow is home and doing well. She will be on antibiotics for at least 10 more days and have to have a couple of chest xrays but other than that she is fine. This past evening she was acting like her normal self...........the little holy terrier that she is.............Again thank you to all my readers for the well wishes and I will keep you posted. MEADOW COMING HOME

Our prayers were answered and my little Meadow is doing wonderful. Last night around 11 pm I spoke to Dr Hill before going to bed. Meadow had been weaned from the oxygen and they were watching her closely to be sure she would be able to tolerate being on room air. Doc told me if she did well, that Meadow could come home today or be transferred to our doc for the day. I am impatiently waiting for the call this morning but I am confident that she will leave the emergency hospital for sure today. Again thank you for all your support and prayers. It means so much to me and to Meadow.
This incident has taught me allot and has given me insight to other issues that can arise with small puppies. I have never had anything like this happen and hope that it never happens again. We were so close to losing our little baby and I have heard so many horrible stories from people who did with same or similar situations. We know that unforseen things happen and although we try very hard to avoid problems, as breeders we will see and learn things every day. The one thing that we can take pride in is our deligence to see things through and not at the cost of one of babies. They deserve the best and they will always get the best!! A huge thank you to Dr Hill at the Emergency referral clinic/hospital in Scarborough Maine!!!!!!!!!! "She never gave up!!!" Holly

POSSIBLE LINK TO VOMITING

I just wanted my readers to know this tidbit of information. If you have been reading my blog, you all know that Meadow had a bout of vomiting on Sat/Sun night/morning which led her to aspirating and now is in intensive care at the animal hospital. We have been wracking our brains to try to uncover the cause. As I told the emergency doc, the only new thing was a new bag of Purina One puppy food. Well since Sunday and after feeding 3 lactating moms and my other dogs from this same "new bag or Purina One puppy", I have had 3 with horrible diarrhea and 2 others vomiting. In an effort to check, I called Purina/Nestle this morning. The new bags, packaging is new has a 1-800 number available on them. What I learned is that the formula HAS CHANGED. Apparently they "adjusted" some ingredients and deleted the yogurt from the kibbles. They were going to report my concerns to quality. I know it does not change the fact that my dogs are sick.
Now, having said all this, I am not saying the vomiting that I am experiencing with my dogs is because of the new food, however, I am saying it may be possible since the only "new" thing was the "new" bag of food. If any of you buy the "new" Purina and should your dog start vomiting or experience diarrhea after eating the food for a day or so..............please call them and report it!!! In the meantime, since I also feed Royal Canin, I am going to change to the Royal Canin exclusively for the time being. Just wanted all of you know. HOlly

UPDATE MEADOW TUESDAY MORNING

I just got off the phone with the doctor. Meadow had a WONDERFUL NIGHT!!!!! Her respirations have dropped from over 100 per minute down into the 60's and she has been a little fiesty baby wanting to play and tear her IV out!!!! They ended up micro dosing her again with the lasix last evening and giving her the albuterol inhaler and she improved dramatically after this. It worked!!!!! I am so relieved as it looks like she is going to make it.
We have decided to leave her there for another 24 hours so that she can potentially be weaned down off the oxygen and so that she can be watched around the clock. Tomorrow we will have to transfer her to our regular vet for continued treatment for a couple more days.
I can't thank all of you enough for your kind thoughts but especially for the prayers. Many of you called me, wrote emails and just stayed positive for me when my heart was heavy. I truly believe that the power of prayer is stronger than any drug and HE heard all of us. Thank you thank you............I will keep you posted on her progress. Holly

MEADOW UPDATE MONDAY EVENING

I just spoke with the doc and they tried a diuretic with her this afternoon. It perked her up enough that she ate her lunch, pulled out her IV and played with her toy that I brought her this morning. They said she even wagged her tail a bit before she layed back down to rest. They told me she was laying on her back with her legs in the air............unheard of in a pup in her condition. Although doc's words were........"she is NOT out of the woods yet", these are all good signs that possibly she will make it thru this. They are "hopeful" that she will continue to improve.
Of course I am still sick about all of this and worried to death..........but it made me smile to know that my strong little girl still has fight in her.
Thank you to all who have called and sent such caring emails regarding Meadow. The power of prayer sometimes can be more powerful than any drug in the world.........thank you so much and keep praying for my baby to survive. HOlly

PLEASE PRAY FOR MEADOW

Tragedy has hit TMY. Meadow my little 11 week old pick of the litter out of Emma and Sutton aspirated on Saturday night or early Sunday morning. She was taken to the veterinary emergency hospital yesterday where she remains in critical condition. They are doing everything they can for her including, IV's, Oxygen, antibiotics and more. Her little lungs are filled with fluid as per the xray and she is having a very difficult time breathing. We have never had this happen before with any of our pups but I am told that it happens sometimes when a small puppy vomits. We have no idea what caused the initial issue as she was her little spit-fire self all day Saturday and at the time of putting her to bed Saturday night.
I went today to visit her and brought her a little stuffed dog to snuggle with. It was very difficult for me to see her in the oxygen kennel laboring so hard to stay alive. The one good thing was today she actually ate the food they provided for her and when I looked into her eyes today I could see a sparkle. She was a super healthy and hearty little girl up until yesterday and her will to rally for her life is apparent. Please say a special prayer for her recovery. Thanks so much..........Holly

JULY 27th, DELIA HAS DELIVERED

It has been a long night especially for Delia.......... She delivered her puppies between 2 and 3 am today. She is doing wonderful and is the best mommy ever.
When we had the xray taken lastThursday I commented that it looked like there was one larger one, a medium sized puppy and 3 tiny ones...........well I wasn't far off!!!!!!!!
The first born was a big boy weighing in at 5 3/8 oz. The next, another boy (the medium one) weighing 3 3/8oz.
Then the 3 little girls made their debut weighing 3 1/8, 2 5/8, and a whopping 1 3/8 oz. This little girl is the smallest pup that we have had born to TMY. Well over a year ago Jazzy delivered 5 puppies and her smallest was a tiny boy that weighed 1 5/8 oz. Unfortunately we lost him just minutes after birth.
All of Delia's puppies appear strong and are nursing well. We will keep a close eye on all of them and do whatever it takes to insure their wellbeing. Say a little prayer for them that they stay strong and do well.

RUBY HAS DELIVERED!!

Late this afternoon, Ruby delivered 3 beautiful boys. She had an easy time and all the pups are doing great. They weighed in at 5 1/4oz, 6 1/8 oz and 4 3/4oz. Grady is the proud daddy of these puppies. Holly
